By hosting the International Investment Forum Dubrovnik as a highest level forum, the County of Dubrovnik-Neretva aims at presenting and promoting investment opportunities in the south of Croatia and the broader Southeast Europe area.

As a promoter of economic development at its territory, the Dubrovnik-Neretva County has gathered numerous representatives of international and Croatian companies, Croatian Government, as well as representatives of local and regional authorities from all Croatian regions. The topics discussed include potentials for development of agriculture, mariculture and tourism and various development projects in the fields of energetics and infrastructure, primarily in view of the natural resources of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County.

With Croatia's accession to the European Union, the role of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County has become even more significant. Our county is visited by some two million tourists on annual basis. The City of Dubrovnik is one of the most attractive Mediterranean cruising ship destinations with more than a million cruising passengers visiting Dubrovnik annually. These are therefore unavoidable topics of this year's Forum. The discussions will aim to help the completion of various investment projects by use of the geostrategic potentials of the Dubrovnik-Neretva County as well as strategic planning of the economic development through tourism development with the preservation of landscape.

The Forum has three key objectives:

  • to present different investment possibilities in Dubrovnik and Neretva Region, as an important part of the wider region of Southeast Europe, primarily using the information and communication technology;
  • to distress the necessity of harmonizing investment plans with the strategies, regulations and policies as part of the Digital Agenda for Europe in the context of applications for funding from various European funds;
  • to establish a trust between investors, representatives of local and regional government and the academic community in order to support joint research and innovation in the field of information and communication technologies, and as a necessary support for the realization of the investment cycle.
